It’s a new era for Virginia Tech football and new head coach James Franklin is looking to make an impact on the recruiting trail for the Hokies.
Virginia itself has been on the rise when it comes to producing blue-chip talent at the high school level. The 2026 cycle had multiple top-100 prospects in the Old Dominion. Looking at the 2027, there’s a slew of four-stars.

Haymarket (Va.) Battlefield four-star linebacker Noah Glover is one of the best in the commonwealth. He’s being courted by some of the top programs in the nation, but Virginia Tech would love to keep him close to home at the next level.
On Wednesday, Franklin and former head coach turned defensive coordinator Brent Pry paid a visit to Glover:
Earlier this month, Glover spoke with Rivals’ Chad Simmons and discussed his hectic recruitment that has seen plenty of powerhouses get involved. He took plenty of visits in the fall and did get back to Blacksburg.
“I’m getting there with top schools, but I’m taking my time. Everything is still kind of slow for me,” Glover said. “This is all a process. I’m trying to eliminate schools, but it’s hard. I want to make sure I focus on the schools that are best for me.”

The likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Indiana and Texas A&M have also been heavily involved to this point. It remains to be seen where Glover will visit throughout the spring before locking in some official visits.
Playing nine games for Battlefield in 2025, Glover finished with 73 tackles, five sacks, two pass breakups, two blocked punts and two touchdowns of his own. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder will enter his senior season as one of the best in Virginia.
He’s now the No. 210 overall prospect and No. 11 LB in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 recruit in Virginia.
Virginia Tech’s rise up the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings were well-documented in the winter. Once Franklin got to Blacksburg, he got straight to work, poached a majority of the 2026 Penn State class and somehow signed a top-30 class.

So far in the 2027 cycle, Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley four-star EDGE Andrew Rogers is the lone commit in the fold. He’s now the No. 281 recruit and No. 29 EDGE in the cycle early on.
