Daniel Evans suffered some brutal luck during his Guangzhou Challenger quarterfinal match against Juan Manuel Cerundolo as the two-time ATP champion retired while leading because his "wrist literally broke."
After taking the opening set with a 6-4 scoreline, the British tennis player also claimed a break in the very first game of the second set. Facing a break point in the second game, the current world No. 157 fell on the court and got broken back.
"I fell on my left hand," Evans was heard saying.

Following the fall, the former world No. 21 received a medical timeout before receiving a code violation for saying something to the chair umpire.
"it's your guys' job," Evans was heard bluntly telling the umpire. The umpire cut off the Briton and responded: "We were trying our best. We were trying our best to get him…" The 35-year-old clapped back: "I try my best mate but he's just broken me, I get nothing for it."
Evans claimed another break and then retired
When the action resumed, the British tennis veteran broke Cerundolo again in the third game and went up by a set and a break. But then, the two-time ATP champion remarked, “My wrist literally broke," and that was it for the day.
Daniel Evans retired at 6-4, 2-1 up vs Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

For Evans, this was his second consecutive retirement. A week earlier, he was in the midst of the third set against Filip Peliwo when he was forced to retire from their Shanghai Challenger round-of-16 match due to a headache and dizziness.
It remains to be seen for how long the 35-year-old Briton will be sidelined after injuring his wrist.
