Watch: Novak Djokovic getting ready for the US Open

Most fans were worried when Novak Djokovic announced that he would not even participate in the Cincinnati Masters 1000, after having already skipped the 'Canadian Open' staged in Toronto.

The Serbian legend – who has not competed in an official match since the semi-final of the Wimbledon Championships against Jannik Sinner – took a long vacation between Croatia and Greece together with his family and friends, not touching his racket and generating a wave of speculation on the web.

The 2025 season allowed Nole to finally clinch the 100th title of his never-ending career, but it also showed him how tough it is to become the oldest Grand Slam champion in tennis history. The men's tour is controlled by Sinner and Alcaraz at the moment, with the Italian and Spaniard having no intention of leaving room for their rivals.

The 38-year-old from Belgrade raised his level as he usually does in Major tournaments, but he never went beyond the semifinals and showed some signs of decay from an athletic point of view for the first time.

For this reason, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has decided to return to action directly at the US Open, scheduled in Flushing Meadows from August 24 to September 7. Before playing the singles in New York, the former world number 1 will also participate in the mixed doubles tournament together with Olga Danilovic and it will be a good opportunity to test his condition in view of a particularly important tournament for him.

Meanwhile, Novak was spotted during a practice session on the courts of Portonovi, a resort located in Montenegro. Djokovic won his latest career Grand Slam at the US Open in 2023, while in the last edition he was eliminated in the first week having not yet recovered from his amazing triumph at the Paris Olympics (where he defeated Alcaraz in the final).
