Steve Garcia dropped two of his first three fights in the UFC, but has been on a tear ever since.
His current six-fight winning streak started with five straight knockout wins, including three first-rounders. All three of those quick finishes were rewarded with $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses.
Garcia took his biggest step forward yet in July when he outworked Calvin Kattar for a unanimous decision in Nashville, which ended that stoppage streak. But with six wins in a row and five finishes, he’s booked into a UFC main event Saturday.
Garcia (18-5 MMA, 7-2 UFC) takes on David Onama (14-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in the UFC Fight Night 263 main event Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas (ESPN+). The fight has some solid implications at featherweight. Onama is on a four-fight winning streak of his own.
