West Boca Raton star prospect Jamar Thompson lands offer from Ohio State football

Jamar Thompson can now count the reigning college football national champions among his bounty of scholarship offers.

Thompson, a four-star defensive lineman in the Class of 2027 at West Boca Raton, announced he received an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday, Aug. 24 via his personal Instagram.

The offer cements Thompson as the top football recruit in Palm Beach County regardless of graduating class.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 305 pounds, Thompson is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 10 defensive lineman and No. 15 overall player from Florida in the Class of 2027.

He touts 25 total offers from the elite echelon of college football, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State.

Thompson’s ascent comes largely in the wake of West Boca Raton’s undefeated run to the Class 6A state championship in 2024.

He entered his sophomore season with four mid-major offers from Florida Atlantic, South Florida, Massachusetts and Western Kentucky.

Thompson made 66 tackles with 16 tackles for loss and four sacks across the Bulls’ undefeated state title campaign.

He dominated the Class 6A state title game against Osceola with seven tackles, three for loss, and a highlight fourth-quarter sack that served as an exclamation point to West Boca Raton’s dominant defensive performance.

One day later, the University of Kentucky came calling with Thompson’s first Power 5 offer, unleashing a torrent of offseason collegiate interest.
