Americans on Ashe

All four matchups in Arthur Stadium will feature American talent on Monday.

Madison Keys will kick things off with the first round tussle with Mexico’s Renata Zarazu, with Francis Tiafo taking the reins from there. The two-time semifinalist battles Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka.

The night session will sizzle as 45-year-old Venus Williams takes on last year’s semifinalist Karolina Muchova, while bomb-serving Reilly Opelka will take a crack at 2022 Champion Carlos Alcaraz in the nightcap.

Youth Brigade on Armstrong

A pair of highly talented 18-year-olds will take the court on Louis Armstrong on Monday as Canada’s Victoria Mboko gets things started with her US open main draw debut.

Mboko, who won her first WTA title in Montreal earlier this month will face two-time major champion Barbora Krejcikova. Talk about trial by fire on the grand slam stage.

In the last match of the evening, Mirra Andreeva will face hard serving American Alycia Parks. Talented Andreeva has reached the second week of all three Grand Slams thus far this season, but she has never been past the second round in two previous appearances in New York.

Petra’s Last Stand?

All eyes will be on two time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová as she faces Frenchwoman Diane Parry and what could be her last ever match on tour.

The pair will clash in the first match of the day, starting at 11 AM, on Grandstand.

Kvitova, who owns 31 singles titles, has not lost in the first round in Queens since 2011. She is 34-14 lifetime at the US Open.
