Although the World Series trophy is MLB’s ultimate prize, there is always plenty of sought-after hardware handed out after the Fall Classic every year.
From Gold Gloves to Rookies of the Year to Cy Young and MVP, here’s a look at all of the important dates when it comes to the 2025 awards season.
Oct. 27: Roberto Clemente Award presented by Capital One
Before Game 3 of the World Series
Widely considered one of the game’s most prestigious honors, the Roberto Clemente Award is given annually to the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field. The Clemente Award nominees — one from each team — were unveiled in September.
Nov. 2: Rawlings Gold Glove Awards
8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN
Rawlings will announce the winners of the annual awards given to the best defensive player at each position in each league live on ESPN. This year’s finalists were announced on Oct. 15. Voting for the Platinum Glove Awards, given to the best overall defensive player in each league, will begin immediately after the announcement.
Nov. 6-7: Silver Slugger Awards
Each year since 1980, the best offensive player at each position in each league has been honored with a Silver Slugger Award based on voting from MLB managers and coaches. This is the fourth year that there will be an award category for utility players, given the increasing prevalence of players who are defensively versatile. The National League winners will be announced on Nov. 6, and the American League winners will follow the next day.
Nov. 7: Platinum Glove Awards
The Platinum Glove Awards, one presented in each league to the best overall defensive player, will be announced at the Rawlings Gold Glove Dinner in New York City, where the Gold Glove Award winners will receive their trophies. Last year’s winners were Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh and Brewers second baseman Brice Turang.
Nov. 10: BBWAA Rookie of the Year Awards
The BBWAA opens its major awards week by honoring the top rookies from the 2025 season. It’s an honor with a strong legacy, bearing the name of Jackie Robinson, the first winner back in 1947. Last year, the Yankees’ Luis Gil and the Pirates’ Paul Skenes won the award.
Nov. 11: BBWAA Manager of the Year Awards
The top manager in each league will be recognized with this annual honor, which is based only on the regular season. Last year, the winners were Stephen Vogt (Guardians) in the AL and Pat Murphy (Brewers) in the NL.
Nov. 12: BBWAA Cy Young Awards
The Cy Young Award has been given out since 1956. It was awarded to the top overall pitcher in the Majors from 1956-66, but it has been presented to one pitcher in each league since 1967. Last year, the honors went to the Tigers’ Tarik Skubal and the Braves’ Chris Sale. Skubal has put together a strong case for a repeat while Skenes seems to be the clear NL frontrunner.
Nov. 13: BBWAA MVP Awards
Shohei Ohtani is considered the heavy favorite to win his fourth MVP Award in five seasons and his second in as many years with the Dodgers. The AL MVP, conversely, seems to be a toss-up between Cal Raleigh and last year’s winner, the Yankees’ Aaron Judge.
Nov. 13: All-MLB Teams
The All-MLB Team was introduced in 2019 to honor players’ full-season contributions, given that All-Star selections are based on first-half performance. Fans were asked to vote at MLB.com to help choose first- and second-team selections at each position (including three outfielders, a DH, five starting pitchers and two relievers) among this year’s nominees.
The All-MLB First and Second Teams will be revealed as part of MLB Awards presented by MGM Rewards, airing on MLB Network on Nov. 13. The winners of the Hank Aaron Award, the Comeback Players of the Year, the Mariano Rivera & Trevor Hoffman Relievers of the Year, the Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter of the Year and the MLB Executive of the Year will also be announced during the show.
Nov. 13: Hank Aaron Awards
Given annually to the best overall offensive performer in each league, the Hank Aaron Award winners are determined by a combination of a fan vote and a panel of Hall of Famers. Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani won this award in their respective league last year.
Nov. 13: Comeback Player of the Year Awards
The Comeback Player of the Year Awards honor one player from each league who has overcome adversity to return to a high level of performance in the Major Leagues. Garrett Crochet was the AL recipient of this honor last year while with the White Sox. The Braves’ Chris Sale won it in the NL.
Nov. 13: Rivera/Hoffman Reliever of the Year Awards
Named for Hall of Fame closers Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman when the awards were established in 2014, these honors go to the best reliever in each league. Last year’s winners were the Guardians’ Emmanuel Clase in the AL and the Cardinals’ Ryan Helsley in the NL.
Nov. 13: Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter
The Outstanding DH Award has been handed out since the designated hitter was first adopted by the AL in 1973, and it was renamed in honor of five-time winner and Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez in 2004. Shohei Ohtani has won the award in each of the past four seasons — and appears likely to win it again in 2025
Nov. 13: Executive of the Year Award
This honor will be announced during the GM Meetings, which will take place in San Antonio this year. As with other awards, voting is completed prior to the start of the postseason, which means results from the playoffs aren’t taken into account. The 2024 winner was Brewers general manager Matt Arnold.
Nov. 20: Heart & Hustle Awards
This award is presented by the MLB Players Alumni Association and is voted on by alumni as well as active players. It goes to the active player “who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game.” Each of the 30 teams has one nominee, and a winner will be selected from that group and announced during the day’s episode of MLB Network’s Hot Stove. Last year’s winner was Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.
