Despite losing five players to season-ending injuries — including star point guard Caitlin Clark — the Indiana Fever are heading to the 2025 WNBA playoffs. Under first-year head coach Stephanie White, the Fever (23-20) have improved on last season’s 20-20 mark, maintaining one of the WNBA’s top three offenses and improving from the league’s 11th-ranked defense to its eighth-best unit.

But the injuries to Clark, Sophie Cunningham and others — combined with increased competitiveness around The W — means Indiana may well be a lower seed this season.

The WNBA regular season ends Thursday; the Fever’s season finale though takes place Tuesday night, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the #1 seed Minnesota Lynx. Intriguingly, Indiana may avoid Minnesota in the first round with a loss tonight…or if the Golden State Valkyries defeat the Seattle Storm, who are vying for the final available playoff spot.
If the season ended today, with the Fever locked in to the #7 seed, Indiana would face the Atlanta Dream — though the Las Vegas Aces have the tiebreaker over Atlanta and would usurp the Dream as the #2 seed with two more victories. Either way, the Fever will not know where they’re going until the season ends on Thursday.
