Where Alabama sits in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after holiday break

It was a quiet week on the schedule for Nate Oats’ Alabama Crimson Tide due to the Christmas break.

Alabama (9-3) returns to action Monday night against the Yale Bulldogs (11-1) in a matchup of two teams that were in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Tipoff for Alabama-Yale at Coleman Coliseum is 7 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on ESPN+.

The Crimson Tide will enter their matchup against the Bulldogs having won six of their last seven games, including a 92-81 win over Kennesaw State on Dec. 21. Aiden Sherrell led the Tide with a career-high 21 points, and Labaron Philon and Aden Holloway both added 17 points against the Owls.

Alabama’s win over Kennesaw State followed a 104-93 victory over South Florida on Dec. 17 in Tuscaloosa. Philon’s 29 points led the Crimson Tide against USF.

Where is Alabama basketball ranked in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll?

Alabama is ranked No. 15 in the Week 9 USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, the same spot as last week. The Crimson Tide are ranked one spot below the Louisville Cardinals and one spot ahead of the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Alabama basketball schedule: When does SEC play begin for Crimson Tide?

Alabama (9-3) will open SEC play Saturday against the Kentucky Wildcats (9-4) at Coleman Coliseum. Tipoff for Alabama-Kentucky is 11 a.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN.

The Crimson Tide will head to Nashville for their first SEC road contest against the Vanderbilt Commodores (12-0) the following Wednesday, Jan. 7. Alabama-Vanderbilt will tip at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
