Auburn basketball slides in projected seeding from ESPN’s latest Bracketology. So, where does Auburn land in Joe Lundari’s bracket projections after getting through the nonconference schedule?

Just before SEC play begins this Saturday against Georgia on the road, Auburn is projected to be a No. 8 seed in the East Region. The Tigers would face the No. 9 seed SMU in Philadelphia. If they advanced further to the Round of 32, their matchups would be against No. 1 UConn or No. 16 Colgate.

Auburn’s hypothetical Sweet 16 matchup would see them face No. 5 Tennessee, No. 12 William & Mary, No. 4 Kansas, or No. 13 Illinois State. The East Region would see four SEC teams represented in No. 8 Auburn, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 6 Arkansas, and No. 10 LSU. The Tigers are in a tough spot, where they could encounter UConn, Kansas, and Duke for their chance to dance into another Final Four.

The Tigers are No. 35 in the NET ranking as of today after a dominating 106-65 win over Queens to end 2025 at home. Auburn has been battle-tested throughout its nonconference schedule and could play to its advantage come bracket time. Saturday, the 9-4 Tigers will head to Athens, Georgia, to face the 12-1 Bulldogs to tip off conference play.
