An upset loss to South Florida was enough to knock the Florida Gators out of the AP Top 25 heading into Week 3.
Hopes were high for the Orange and Blue entering the season, but two weeks of inconsistent offense have many doubting Billy Napier’s squad, which faces the toughest schedule in the nation. Florida’s Week 2 No. 13 ranking could be its peak if things don’t go well against the eight remaining ranked teams on the schedule.

All hope is not lost, however. Florida is the unofficial No. 29 team in the country with 70 poll points, according to the AP Top 25. A win over No. 3 LSU next week could easily get Florida back into the conversation.
SEC schools in the Week 2 AP Top 25
The Southeastern Conference boasts 11 total teams in the top 25, even with Florida falling out of favor. The third-ranked LSU Tigers lead the way, followed by the sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, the seventh-ranked Texas Longhorns, and the 11th-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.
Next up are the Oklahoma Sooners at No. 13. The Tennessee Volunteers were the big climbers this week, jumping seven spots to No. 15. The Texas A&M Aggies and the Ole Miss Rebels own the Nos. 16 and 17 spots, respectively. The Alabama Crimson Tide are No. 19, and Auburn and Missouri are the two newcomers at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively.
