Where is Iowa women’s basketball ranked in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll?

After Iowa women’s basketball‘s (20-5, 11-3 Big Ten) two victories over Washington (65-56) and Nebraska (80-67) this past week, the Hawkeyes have held onto their previous ranking in the latest USA TODAY Sports Women’s College Basketball Coaches Poll.

In the Hawkeyes’ win over the Huskies, sophomore guard Chit-Chat Wright carried the offense behind her 21 points on 6-for-13 shooting, 5-for-8 from 3-point territory, and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line in her 38 minutes of action. Senior forward Hannah Stuelke also notched her seventh double-double of the season and the 18th of her career with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Against the Cornhuskers, sophomore center Avav Heiden dominated en route to a career-high-tying 27 points on 12-for-15 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe, along with to go along with her 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 1 steal. As a result, this was the 6-foot-4 Sherwood, Ore., native’s sixth double-double of the season. Sophomore guard Taylor Stremlow also added a career-high 17 points on top of Heiden’s sensational effort.

Despite the wins this past week, Iowa remains at the No. 12 spot in this week’s Coaches Poll.

In addition to Iowa, six other Big Ten squads are within the updated Top 25. NO. 2 UCLA leads the group, followed by No. 5 Michigan, No. 10 Ohio State, No. 15 Maryland, No. 16 Michigan State, and No. 23 Minnesota.

Nebraska is the lone conference representative in the receiving votes category, earning just 1 vote.

Iowa will have two matchups this week to improve its standing in the next Coaches Poll, as the Hawkeyes travel to Purdue on Feb. 19, before returning home for “Senior Day” against No. 5 Michigan on Feb. 22. Tipoff against the Boilermakers is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on B1G+, while the clash against the Wolverines is set for 11 a.m. CT on FOX.
