Where Kellie Harper’s Missouri women’s basketball team was picked in preseason SEC poll

by

New Missouri women’s basketball coach Kellie Harper’s first team in Columbia has been predicted to finish 13th in the SEC in the preseason media poll.

The poll is voted on by a panel of national and SEC media members. No Mizzou players were named to the preseason all-conference team.

Harper was hired by Mizzou in March, replacing long-time head coach Robin Pingeton.

Missouri parted ways with Pingeton, who now coaches Wisconsin, after the Tigers failed to reach the NCAA Tournament for a sixth straight season in the 2024-25 campaign.

The Tigers’ first season under Harper will begin Nov. 3 at Mizzou Arena, where the Tigers will take on Central Arkansas.

Reigning SEC champion South Carolina was picked to win the conference in the preseason poll, with Texas and LSU checking in at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Tennessee, which is where Harper coached before Mizzou, was picked to finish fourth.

Mizzou was voted ahead of only Arkansas, Auburn and Texas A&M.

Madison Booker of Texas was picked as the SEC Preseason Player of the Year.
