Where LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier ranks in ESPN’s QBR after Week 2

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier earned plenty of praise after his Week 1 performance at Clemson, but he followed it up with an inconsistent outing vs. Louisiana Tech in Week 2. Nussmeier still made the occasional big throw and LSU secured the 23-7 victory, but Nussmeier’s accuracy and timing were off.

Nussmeier remains the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, even with the lackluster performance.

After two weeks, the LSU QB owns a QBR of 76.4, ranking No. 7 among SEC QBs in the ESPN metric. Nussmeier’s raw QBR of 71.9 ranks No. 9 in the SEC.

For those unfamiliar with the stat, here’s how ESPN defines QBR:

“Adjusted Total Quarterback Rating, which values the quarterback on all play types on a 0-100 scale adjusted for the strength of opposing defenses faced.”

Arkansas QB Taylen Green leads the SEC with a 91.1 QBR. Florida QB DJ Lagway, LSU’s next opponent, has a QBR of 52.4, which is among the worst in the conference. When Nussmeier and Lagway take the field on Saturday, we’ll see two talented quarterbacks looking for a bounce-back performance.
