LSU football is set to face Houston in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27. While it was a disappointing year for LSU, Houston is a team looking for win No. 10. That would be a massive accomplishment in Willie Fritz’s second year leading the program.

In fact, Houston is ranked, sitting No. 24 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

After going 4-8 in 2024, Houston got off to a 4-0 start in 2025. The September schedule didn’t include many challenges, but Houston made the most of it and took care of business. Texas Tech delivered Houston’s first loss of the season, an understandable one given that Texas Tech is a College Football Playoff team ranked in the top four.

After the Texas Tech loss, Houston got back on track with three straight wins, including victories over decent Arizona and Arizona State teams.

Houston was upset by West Virginia, but added two more wins in November, beating UCF and Baylor.
