LSU women’s basketball stayed put at No. 5 in the latest addition of the AP poll, released Monday. The top six remained unchanged from the prior week. UConn, South Carolina, UCLA and Texas round out the top five.

The Tigers capped a record-setting stretch of games last week with a 112-49 win over Alcorn State. By scoring 100 points in six consecutive games, LSU set an SEC record and tied the national mark with a chance to break it on Friday against Marist.

Head coach Kim Mulkey’s team is arguably the deepest of her tenure at LSU. Led by returning guards Flau’Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams, the Tigers excel in transition and shoot the lights out. South Carolina transfer guard MiLaysia Fulwiley adds creativity while true freshmen Grace Knox and ZaKiyah Johnson show off their versatility by playing in the post and on the perimeter.

LSU’s field goal percentage of 55.88% is second in the country behind the Longhorns. Its 45.54% three-point shooting percentage leads the nation, a stark improvement from its performance beyond the arc last year. The Tigers also lead the nation in bench points with 54.2 per game.
