LSU women’s basketball fell one spot in the AP Poll, coming in at No. 6, after falling at Texas last week, but responded with a win over Auburn on Sunday.
LSU’s loss at Texas brought an end to the Tigers’ seven-game win streak, a stretch that included beating Texas in Baton Rouge in January. The Auburn trip made it back-to-back road games for the Tigers, but Kim Mulkey and crew took advantage of a downtrodden Auburn team.

LSU’s next opponent poses a much bigger challenge. Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks are heading to Baton Rouge for a date with the Tigers on Sat, Feb. 14. LSU and South Carolina has become one of the sport’s best rivalries, but the series remains dominated by the Gamecocks.
If LSU can finally take down South Carolina, the Tigers will once again be ranked in the top five and well-positioned for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
