The Georgia Bulldogs have high expectations entering the 2025 college football season, but Georgia is not considered the national championship or SEC championship favorites. Georgia is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance (lost to Notre Dame in the quarterfinals) and SEC championship win.
The Bulldogs reloaded over the course of the offseason. Georgia added talented receivers like Zachariah Branch (USC) and Noah Thomas (Texas A&M) via the transfer portal to help projected starting quarterback Gunner Stockton.

Georgia has a talented roster that coach Kirby Smart is trying to raise to the Georgia standard. The Bulldogs lost a significant amount of experienced starters in the trenches and quarterback Carson Beck this offseason, so that’s why the Bulldogs aren’t being ranked as the preseason No. 1 like they have been in the past. That suits coach Smart just fine. He’ll consider Georgia’s lower ranking to be disrespectful and use them as motivation for his team.
