Two of the biggest names in men’s college basketball will face off in an exhibition matchup on Friday night.

Both Virginia and Villanova enter the 2025-26 season with first-year head coaches. Ryan Odom will lead the Cavaliers after coaching the past two seasons at VCU. Virginia fans may remember him as the man who guided the 2017-18 UMBC squad to a stunning victory over Virginia in the NCAA Tournament, marking the first time a No. 16 seed defeated a No. 1 seed in March Madness.
Kevin Willard will take over at Villanova this year after spending the last three seasons at Maryland. The Terrapins reached the NCAA Tournament twice under Willard, most recently advancing all the way to the Sweet 16 and falling to Florida, the eventual national champion.
