It was a tough week for many of the Marion area’s high school football teams during Week 6 action.
Mount Gilead won its game going away, while Elgin and RIdgedale picked up wins, too. North Union led in the fourth quarter of its contest before losing, but everyone else struggled to stay close on Sept. 26.

Regardless, there were some performances of note from around the area. Fans are welcome to participate as often as allowed in the Marion Star Football Player of Week 6 Poll. It is open now through early morning of Sept. 30 at Marion Star.com and its app.

Mount Gilead’s Carson Barnum ran 35 times for 181 yards and three touchdowns in a win over East Knox.

Elgin’s Zach Bowers ran 81 yards for a touchdown and ended with 102 rushing yards on eight carries in a win over Lucas.
Highland’s Kane Stover made 10 tackles and five for a loss, while also catching a 62-yard pass in a loss to Galion.
North Union’s Nick VanHoose carried it 18 times for 81 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Indian Lake.
Cardington’s Wyatt Denney rushed for 111 yards on 23 carries in a loss to Centerburg.
Northmor’s Tanner Miley was 16-for-23 passing with 189 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Fredericktown.
