Who is Chasing a Triple Crown as World Cup Heads to Final Stop in Toronto?

Only the Toronto stop of the World Cup circuit remains, which means several athletes are closing in on Triple Crowns and the bonus that comes with winning the same event at all three legs of the tour. The Toronto swing of the World Cup will take place Thursday to Saturday and 15 athletes will try to nail down at least one Triple Crown. Of those swimmers, eight are alive for multiple event sweeps.

Hungarian Hubert Kos will chase Triple Crowns in all three backstroke events, as he is a perfect 6-for-6 through the Carmel and Westmont meets. On the women’s side, training partners Gretchen Walsh and Kate Douglass will have three opportunities each at Triple Crowns. Walsh will chase bonuses in the 100 individual medley, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly while Douglass will target the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 100 freestyle.
