Why Santos Escobar Still Hasn’t Returned to WWE TV After Re-Signing

by

Santos Escobar might not be on WWE television right now, but it’s not because he’s been forgotten.

According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Escobar signed a huge new WWE contract last month—and WWE is intentionally keeping him off TV until they have a meaningful creative plan ready. Alvarez explained the company’s mindset behind the delay and said WWE has no interest in wasting money on someone they’re not ready to spotlight.

“I know he signed a new contract, and I know it was a very big contract. Whatever you think about WWE booking, they’re not gonna sign this guy to this kind of money and not push him. WWE believes, ‘We actually need a real idea for this before we bring him back.’”

Escobar reportedly had one specific request before re-signing: a personal meeting with Triple H to go over his future direction. WWE agreed, and the deal was made. Now they’re just finalizing the right storyline to fit the investment.

“I know one of his requests with his new contract was that he wanted a personal meeting with Triple H to discuss his future plans. So they’re gonna come up with something and give him a big push.”

And make no mistake—Santos is sitting pretty. Alvarez noted that Escobar isn’t sweating the wait thanks to the money WWE is paying him.

“With the money he’s making, he could sit at home for a while — he’s got no problems with that.”

Escobar’s contract officially expired on October 6, but he re-signed just a couple of days later. He’s been quiet since, aside from a cryptic post where he simply wrote: “Waiting patiently.”

WWE clearly has something in the works, but Escobar fans may need to hang tight just a little longer before seeing him back in action.
