Why WWE Pulled Bron Breakker From Battle Royal for World Title Match Against CM Punk

by

Jey Uso may have punched his ticket to a World Heavyweight Championship showdown with CM Punk, but Bron Breakker’s absence from the October 20 episode of WWE Raw has fans asking big questions—and now we know why.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bron Breakker was intentionally left out of the high-stakes Battle Royal for one major reason: WWE has long-term plans in place for him to win the World Heavyweight Championship, just not yet.

The report revealed that WWE officials made a strategic call through Adam Pearce’s on-screen authority character to keep both Breakker and Bronson Reed out of the match, despite offering no storyline explanation to fans. Dave Meltzer explained the logic behind the move:

“Breakker is expected to end up as champion, but they have a plan of how and when to execute it.”

WWE reportedly didn’t want Breakker’s coronation to happen at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1, which is a Peacock-exclusive show and not expected to deliver huge viewership numbers. As Meltzer put it:

“It happening on an SNME show, which is a Peacock exclusive and likely won’t do big viewing numbers, was decided to not be the time or the place.”

Since Breakker isn’t set to win the title at SNME, WWE felt it would do more harm than good to include him in the Battle Royal just to be eliminated.

“So if Breakker wasn’t going to win, there was no reason to put him in and get eliminated.”

Instead, WWE kept Breakker protected by having him appear in a segment alongside Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman to address Seth Rollins’ injury—but he didn’t wrestle or even enter the Battle Royal that determined Punk’s next opponent.

This deliberate omission signals that WWE has something much bigger in store for Breakker—and they’re not about to rush it.

Do you think WWE is right to protect Bron Breakker for a bigger moment down the line? Or should he have been part of the title picture already? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
