All-Star rookie guard Paige Bueckers has only played in 25 of the team’s 32 games this season due to various injuries. She has been on and off the injury report recently and missed Friday’s game against the New York Liberty.

Ahead of Tuesday’s matchup against the Fever, the Wings reported that Bueckers was probable to play in the contest despite having a lingering back injury.

Dallas Wings Fans Call for Paige Bueckers to Sit Out Against Indiana Fever

Bueckers has been a valuable asset for Dallas this season, averaging 18.5 points, 5.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in her rookie campaign. She leads the team in points, assists and steals this year.

Because the Wings are currently 8.0 games back from the final postseason spot with only 12 games left in the season, the odds of them making the WNBA playoffs are incredibly low. For this reason, fans have been calling for Bueckers to sit out so as not to injure herself further.

“just sit paige y’all ain’t winning this😭😭,” one fan said.

“Let her rest please. No needs to risk it,” another added. “She obviously not 100% well when she played on Sunday.”

“Sit Paige down please. There’s no need for playing her,” a fan chimed in. “Why risk her getting inured for?”

“please don’t play her too many minutes,” another commented.

“pb5 please be safe and healthy ❤️‍🩹🙏,” one fan replied.

“just sit paige down i beg😭,” another responded.

Dallas Wings Have Paige Bueckers Decision Ahead of Fever Matchup

Back injuries can be tricky, as legends like Elena Delle Donne struggled to overcome them, and it cut her historic WNBA career short. Wings fans do not want a similar fate to occur for Bueckers, who is the centerpiece of the franchise’s future.

Star Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been out for weeks as she nurses a groin injury, and she will be out once again for Indiana on Tuesday. While fans would love to see each of these two young players compete, their long-term health is most important.

For that reason, it makes sense for Dallas to rest Bueckers with a lingering back issue in an already lost season. If they had something to play for, it could behoove the team to ask her to push through it, but given their current state, it is not reasonable to do so.
