Wisconsin top-ranked class of 2027 small forward target Dooney Johnson committed to Gonzaga on Wednesday.

247Sports considers the in-state product the No. 41 overall recruit, No. 11 small forward and No. 1 player from Wisconsin for the class of 2027. Both 247Sports and On3/Rivals consider the 6-foot-5 forward a four-star recruit.

Johnson received an offer from Greg Gard’s program back on Nov. 16. He has received over a dozen offers during his recruiting journey, including from Indiana, Syracuse, LSU, Marquette and Washington.

The junior plays his high school basketball at Milwaukee Juneau High School. As a sophomore, he averaged 25.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists across 25 games during the 2024-25 season. He scored at least 30 points on eight occasions, including a 48-point explosion on March 1.

Johnson is the first commitment of Gonzaga’s class of 2027. The Badgers have yet to secure a commitment in the 2027 cohort, but the program has received commitments from class of 2026 prospects, three-star LaTrevion Fenderson and New Zealand guard Jackson Ball.

Notably, Wisconsin was listed by On3/Rivals as Johnson’s most likely landing spot at over 62%. Gonzaga, meanwhile, was assigned a 3.5% chance to secure a commitment.
