Wisconsin football landed a commitment from Appalachian State transfer edge rusher DeNigel Cooper on Friday.

Cooper joins the Badgers after two years with the Mountaineers. He joined the program as a three-star recruit out of high school, ranked specifically as the class’s No. 1,507 overall player, its No. 102 edge rusher and its No. 155 player from Georgia. Cooper then redshirted as a true freshman in 2024. He went on to appear in 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2025, totaling 23 tackles, one for loss, 1/2 sack and one pass deflection.

The Kingsland, Georgia, native joins the Badgers with three years of eligibility remaining. 247Sports currently ranks him as the No. 970 overall player and No. 107 defensive lineman in the portal.

Cooper is Wisconsin’s 30th transfer commitment. That group currently ranks No. 19 nationally, according to On3. The rising sophomore is one of four edge rushers committed to the class, along with Liam Danitz (Hope College), Jayden Loftin (Tennessee) and Justus Boone (Arkansas).
