Class of 2026 offensive lineman Maddox Cochrane decommitted from Wisconsin on Monday.
The three-star tackle committed to the program back in April, choosing it over Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Duke, Virginia and others. The Richmond, Virginia, native then visited the Badgers, Cavaliers and Blue Devils during the summer, though kept his pledge to Wisconsin into the season.

“First off, I want to sincerely thank the Wisconsin coaching staff for everything you’ve done for me throughout my recruitment,” Cochrane wrote on X. “Thank you, Coach (Luke) Fickell, Coach A.J. Blazek, and Coach (Pat) Lambert, for giving me the incredible opportunity to pursue my dream of playing college football at a high Division I level. This was a very difficult decision, but after careful consideration, I believe it is in my best interest to decommit from the University of Wisconsin. I have nothing but respect for the program, the players, and the entire coaching staff, and I truly appreciate all the support you’ve shown me. I wish you all the best moving forward.”
247Sports lists Cochrane as the No. 926 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 77 offensive tackle and the No. 26 player from his home state. His departure drops Wisconsin’s class of 2026 to 14 commitments. The group still ranks outside the top 50 nationally.
With this news and the ongoing turmoil surrounding the program, Luke Fickell and his staff have significant work left to do in the class before the early signing period begins in December. Cochrane was the group’s only offensive tackle commit and one of two linemen (iOL Benjamin Novak); his exit leaves a void that the program will have to address.
