Brionna Jones has some injury recovery time ahead.
The four-time WNBA All-Star forward suffered a knee injury while playing overseas for USK Praha, according to the Instagram account for the club based in the Czech Republic. Jones’ agent told ESPN that she tore her meniscus and will return to the U.S. to have surgery.

“The club initially attempted to resolve the situation through conservative treatment, but after 10 days it was decided that Brionna will need to undergo surgery, which she has chosen to have in the USA,” USK Praha wrote on social media.
Jones, 30, is coming off her fourth All-Star appearance and her first with the Atlanta Dream. She spent the first eight years of her career with the Connecticut Sun and signed a one-year deal with the Dream last offseason, making her a free agent this offseason like many other veteran stars in the WNBA who expect salary increases to come with a new collective bargaining agreement.
A product of Brenda Frese’s Maryland Terrapins, Jones was voted the WNBA’s Most Improved Player in 2021 and then Sixth Player of the Year in 2022. A starter in all 44 games for the Dream last season, she averaged 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 52.7% from the floor.
Jones last played for USK Praha on Jan. 22, totaling eight points, six rebounds and one assist. She has played with the club during the WNBA offseason since 2019. Last year, Jones was MVP of the EuroLeague Finals.

According to ESPN, Jones is expected to be ready to play by the start of the WNBA season. However, with the league and the players seemingly far apart on reaching a new collective bargaining agreement.
