Reese could climb into third all-time in league history for double-double seasons should she continue her productive trajectory.
According to the social media account TrendyHoopStars, in the history of women’s basketball, only a small group of elite players have recorded multiple seasons averaging a double-double at both the collegiate and WNBA levels. Among them are three-time WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie, 2021 WNBA MVP Jonquel Jones and Reese herself, a rare distinction that highlights her impact on the game across levels.

Leslie reacted to the possibility of Reese breaking longstanding marks on X:
“This is outstanding! Records are meant to be broken! Go get ‘em @Reese10Angel I will be cheering you on💕😘🙏🏾,” the two-time WNBA champion wrote.
Reese joined the group in just her second season. She followed a historic rookie campaign in which she averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, the highest rebounding average in WNBA history for a single season. Alongside former MVPs Yolanda Griffith and Tina Charles, Reese is one of only three players to average a double-double in each of her first two seasons.

Reese will also begin the season on the verge of becoming the fastest player in league history to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Should she maintain her double-double pace into 2026, Reese would be on track to become the only player ever with three double-double seasons in both the collegiate and WNBA ranks, a feat that would further cement her place among the all-time greats in women’s basketball.
