Women’s basketball: Ridgewater nets win in season opener

Nov. 2—PLYMOUTH — Madison Norsten led the Ridgewater women’s basketball team to a season-opening 72-31 victory over Free Lutheran Bible College on Saturday.

Norsten, a freshman guard/forward from Willmar, scored a game-high 19 points. She capped off her first game in a Warrior uniform with a team-best nine rebounds, five steals and three assists.

Julia Hines and Aly Wendlandt were also key performers for the Warriors.

Hines, a sophomore guard from Randolph, shot 4 of 11 from beyond the arc and went 2-for-4 at the free throw line to finish with 14 points. Wendlandt, a freshman guard from New London-Spicer, supplied 10 points on 4 of 7 shooting from the field and 1 of 2 free throws.

Ridgewater plays Northwestern JV in the MN West Classic at 2 p.m. Friday at Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Worthington. It plays Dordt University JV at noon Saturday.
