WTA legends leave lasting impression at year-end Finals in Riyadh

29 October, Special Olympics Saudi Arabia athletes and coaches participated in a clinic leading up to the WTA Finals Riyadh, the season-ending tournament which features the top eight singles players and top eight doubles teams from the year.
Twelve Special Olympics athletes and 16 coaches spent time on court building upon their foundation skills from coach Judy Murray, Special Olympics Global Ambassador Gaby Dabrowski, #2 singles player in the world, Iga Swiatek, and #5, Jessica Pegula.
With the support of the WTA Foundation, Special Olympics Saudi Arabia formally introduced tennis as a sport this year with three six-week training blocks held in three cities across the country.
Finally, they had a Special Olympics athlete lead the coin toss.
Since formalizing their partnership in 2018, the WTA Foundation and Special Olympics have worked together to foster awareness and participation in tennis worldwide. This is the second year in a row that clinics were held in these two cities.
