WTA tour needs Emma Raducanu to get more exciting

by

2026 will certainly be an important year for Emma Raducanu, who is called upon to prove something to the whole world.

Her life and career have changed since she lifted the trophy at the US Open in 2021, leaving everyone speechless when you consider that she was almost unknown at the time. That sensational success gave her a popularity that was very difficult to manage at her age and it is no coincidence that she struggled a lot to find the right path in the following seasons.

The English star has changed an impressive number of coaches, has had a series of injuries and has almost never found the right continuity. She has shown some positive signs in the last two years and has finally decided to start a long-term journey with a coach – Francisco Roig – who knows tennis really well having worked with a legend of the caliber of Rafael Nadal for many years.

Raducanu is proud

The former US Open champion finished the 2025 season in 29th place in the WTA rankings and her goal is to try to win huge titles this year. In addition to finding more continuity and solving her injuries, Emma has put in some really brilliant performances, putting even world number 1 Aryna Sabalenka in serious trouble on a couple of occasions.

In her press conference in Perth – home of the United Cup – Raducanu analyzed her improvements in recent months: “I would say I’m most proud of, especially in the last year, just stacking good days consistently. I’ve been doing that a lot more and can see the benefits of that."

The former World No.10 also added: “I think physically, I also improved. I became fitter, so I was able to play more matches and more tournaments on the road. I think also, just my approach to playing. I’ve been a lot better, a lot more composed, but at the same time, enjoying it a lot more again. That’s been a big win for me.”
