WWE Bringing Back Abandoned Drew McIntyre Storyline in 2026

by

Drew McIntyre might finally get his long-awaited revenge arcβ€”WWE is reportedly bringing back the β€œBloodline Hunter” storyline in 2026.

According to Self Made Pro on the January 5 episode of Self Made Sessions, WWE is planning to pick up the long-dormant β€œBloodline Hunter” storylineβ€”the same one Drew originally pitched for WrestleMania 41, before it was dropped in favor of his match against Damian Priest.

β€œOkay, so last year, Drew McIntyre was very pissed off at the Royal Rumble. Part of why he was mad was because his initial Mania pitches and creative kind of got turned down, which was the Bloodline Hunter stuff that he really wanted to do. Drew McIntyre wanted to play the Bloodline and work Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

I was told that there has been significant movement on picking back up where they left off when it comes to that stuff. So there you goβ€”Drew McIntyre, Bloodline Hunter, back in play this year.”

McIntyre has been vocal about his frustration over WWE shelving the angle. Back in April 2025, speaking on the Getting Over podcast, Drew explained why he felt left out of the main event pictureβ€”especially with Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins all facing off in a triple threat match that felt tailor-made for him, too.

β€œYeah, I mean, it would 100% have been logical for all the reasons you just mentioned. Doing the Bloodline Hunter thingβ€”which we can come back toβ€”that’s just an ongoing story for Drew McIntyre. But it would’ve been nice to get there for WrestleMania.”

McIntyre pointed out the deep personal feuds he shares with all three men, particularly CM Punkβ€”a rivalry full of venom that couldn’t continue in a simple one-on-one setting.

β€œCM Punkβ€”there couldn’t be any more hatred there than there already is. And we can’t take it any further currently in a singles situation… Seth and I, non-stop feuding over the years. World title match at WrestleMania last year.”

And as for Roman Reigns? McIntyre joked that he was the one who indirectly gave rise to The Bloodline in the first place.

β€œI’m the one that beat Brock Lesnar. I’m the one that set him off into the ocean… Roman had to rescue him from obscurity… Which led to the Bloodline. Led to all the horrible things β€” the reign of terror that happened to me and multiple other people.”

McIntyre was frustrated that he never got the win over Reigns and that the story was sitting there, ready-made for WrestleMania 41. Instead, he ended up in a different program entirelyβ€”but now, that could all be changing.

With the return of the β€œBloodline Hunter” storyline on the horizon, 2026 might finally be the year the Scottish Warrior gets his revengeβ€”or at least a chance to finish what he started.
