WWE’s purchase of AAA is already shaking things up behind the scenes, and according to Konnan, some talent might not survive the transition.
Speaking on Keepin’ It 100, the AAA booker addressed rumors that WWE has started making internal budget cuts within the Mexican promotion. He confirmed that the company is in an evaluation phase and hinted that roster cuts are very possible once that process is complete.
“Of course, bro. There’s people that aren’t that good on the roster—you know, you release them. WWE purchased the product, and they’re evaluating the assets they have.”
Konnan said WWE is currently reviewing everything they’ve acquired with AAA, and decisions about the roster will come after they’ve had time to assess.
“An evaluation period is taking place, and after that, when they start figuring things out, they’ll start organizing going forward. They’re not going to keep the whole roster.”
This comes as AAA prepares to open a WWE-aligned Performance Center in Mexico next year, signaling a new era for the promotion. WWE has also shifted its approach to signing talent for AAA since the acquisition, focusing on a different recruitment strategy.
Do you think WWE should overhaul the AAA roster after the acquisition, or should they keep most of the talent in place? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
