With John Cena set to wrestle his final WWE match this Saturday, December 13, at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., the stakes are already sky-high—but now WWE is dialing things up even further.
According to PWInsider, WWE sources have confirmed the company is actively working on “some surprises” for the event. While details are being kept tightly under wraps, the tease is enough to get fans speculating about returns, debuts, or major angles that could shake up the night.
“WWE sources say that the company is working on having some surprises for this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.”
The show is already stacked with major matchups outside of Cena’s retirement clash against GUNTHER. Cody Rhodes will face NXT Champion Oba Femi in a rare cross-brand singles match.
On top of that, World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will defend their titles against Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater, and Bayley is set to go one-on-one with NXT’s Sol Ruca. Adding to the nostalgia, Jesse “The Body” Ventura will be appearing in D.C. for the Cena sendoff.
While the company has made it clear this won’t be a tribute show, according to Cena’s own wishes, that doesn’t mean the moment won’t carry emotion, legacy, and potentially a few jaw-dropping moments. WWE knows how to make a statement, and with Cena’s career on the line, expect them to pull out all the stops.
As a reminder, Ringside News will have live play-by-play coverage of the event.
