WWE Referee Daphanie LaShaunn Harassed and Threatened After Fans Misread Tweet on Grandmother’s Passing

by

WWE referee Daphanie LaShaunn has revealed that she faced heavy harassment from fans after they misunderstood a tweet about her grandmother’s passing.

It all started when LaShaunn took to Twitter and wrote a vague tweet about not saying goodbye, saying, “It’s not goodbye. It’s see ya later.💔” Many automatically assumed this meant she parted ways with WWE.

In a follow-up, she took to Twitter and revealed that her grandma had passed away and was frustrated over people thinking it was about her job, saying, “Bro I lost my grandma not everything is about wrestling good God!”

Daphanie LaShaunn later explained that she was shocked by the backlash, saying she never imagined being harassed, threatened, or even told someone would spit on her grandmother’s grave, all because of a misunderstood tweet.

The WWE referee clarified that her post wasn’t about wrestling at all and closed by saying she’ll step away for now, telling fans, “I’ll see y’all when I see y’all.”

“Never in my life did I think I would ever be harassed, threatened, and even be told they would spit on my grandmothers grave….All bc of a misinterpreted tweet and I said not everything is about wrestling… Yall got it.💔 I’ll see y’all when I see yall.✌🏾”

Daphanie LaShaunn’s experience shows how quick assumptions online can hurt real people. Instead of receiving support and space to grieve her grandmother, she was met with harassment and awful comments because some fans misunderstood a simple tribute post. We certainly hope she never has to deal with such harassment ever again.
