WWE Talent Prefer Scaled-Back Live Event Schedule as European Tour Rolls On

by

WWE’s return to live events during its current European tour has received strong internal support—but talent say they’re just fine with the company keeping non-televised house shows limited.

According to Fightful Select, several WWE wrestlers spoke positively about working live events again, but made it clear they favor the current reduced schedule. While WWE has drastically scaled back U.S.-based house shows, they continue to promote select tours overseas—where ticket demand remains high.

One veteran talent said the change has been a game-changer for quality of life. “I don’t miss house shows at all. They’re fun to wrestle on, but the current method is much better,” they said. “It makes sense that they still do them here and there, and it makes them much more special.”

Another wrestler said working house shows is a different experience than TV, but since WWE cut them down by roughly two-thirds, they now feel more special and enjoyable.

WWE is still planning its traditional holiday tour for December, taking place after Christmas. However, sources say there are “no talks of accelerating house show schedules outside of overseas and international trips.”

A WWE higher-up explained that the scaled-down approach helps with “costs, scheduling, keeping talent healthy and the weighing [of] pros and cons.” They added that it’s also helped during contract talks, where fewer required dates or alternate ventures are now part of the conversation.

The message from inside WWE is clear—less can be more when it comes to house shows, especially when it keeps talent healthier and the moments more memorable.
