Chad Gable is almost ready to step back in the ring—but don’t expect a sudden exit from Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano just yet.
According to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Gable is definitely nearing a return, and WWE plans to bring him in during Royal Rumble week in Saudi Arabia. But here’s the twist: despite earlier rumors, El Grande Americano never left, and WWE isn’t rushing to take the mask off Ludwig Kaiser.
“Chad Gable is nearing a return, but El Grande Americano never lef. Gable is getting closer to a return to the ring, with Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select learning that he’s planned to be in Saudi Arabia for Royal Rumble week,” the report noted. Despite this, they’ve also heard that there is no immediate plan to move Ludwig Kaiser away from the El Grande Americano gimmick.”
This flies in the face of previous reports claiming that Kaiser’s version of El Grande Americano was turning babyface to make way for Gable’s comeback as a top heel in AAA. Not only is Kaiser sticking around, but WWE has no current plans to remove Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne from their respective Rayo Americano and Bravo Americano characters either.
“There aren’t immediate plans to move Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne from the Rayo and Bravo Americano gimmicks,” Fightful added.
That said, this doesn’t mean Gable’s return will be uneventful. Sean Ross Sapp also reported that WWE has already discussed how to integrate Chad Gable—and possibly the Creed Brothers—into the ongoing AAA storyline.
“Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has heard that there have already been discussions about how to integrate Chad Gable and possibly the Creeds into the angle.”
This all follows Gable’s months-long recovery from shoulder surgery, which began after his in-ring write-off via an armbreaker from Penta in June 2025. Since then, Kaiser has been wearing the mask on WWE live events and AAA appearances.
Now, with Royal Rumble week looming and Gable set to be in Saudi Arabia, all eyes are on how WWE plans to bring him back—and whether the real El Grande Americano will rise again.
Should WWE keep the mask on Kaiser, or is it time for Gable to take back the El Grande Americano identity for good? Let us know what you think in the comments!
