The 2025 Youth Para Pan American Games are underway in Chile this week, with 28 archers from nine countries competing for titles in recurve and compound individual and mixed team events over two days of competition.
Held every four years since 2003, the multisport event has always taken place in South America. The archery competition is being hosted at Chile’s national training centre and features athletes aged 12 to 22. The youngest on the field is Venezuela’s Nelson Alejandro Rodriguez Figueroa, just 13 years old.
There are two open classes for under-21 men and women in both recurve and compound.
Colombia’s Juan Felipe Gonzalez Osorio and Maira Alejandra Mosquera Rocha led qualification in the recurve men’s and women’s events, while 19-year-old compatriot Ariana Correa narrowly topped the compound women’s list. All three medalled at the Morelia outdoor circuit stage earlier this year.
The USA’s Ephraim Tonn-Bourg led the compound men’s field, having recorded top-10 finishes in both Morelia and Chicago earlier this season.
All four top seeds advanced to Monday’s gold medal matches, which will follow a short mixed team shoot-down and outdoor finals.
Competition continues on Monday. The event is being live-streamed on YouTube, and scores can be followed on Ianseo.
