Zelina Vega is finally speaking out about the botched 619 from May that left Chelsea Green with a legitimately broken nose β and sheβs not holding back on what caused the mistake or how brutal the online backlash was.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Vega opened up about the May 24 Womenβs United States Championship match where the incident took place. According to Vega, it wasnβt a matter of poor execution β it was the ring itself that caused the misstep.
βI had never botched that move not one time until that day, and itβs because the ropes were freaking loose okay,β Vega explained. βThe middle rope, whenever the middle rope is loose, I canβt get a good push.β
Vega, who prides herself on precision and safety, was devastated after learning she injured Green.
βI had never hurt anybody in my career, not one time, not once until that moment happened. So it broke my heart into a million pieces.β
While Chelsea Green reportedly brushed off the injury and turned it into a joke, Vega still faced intense heat from fans online. The criticism clearly got to her, and she didnβt shy away from calling it out.
βIt was one of those things that people really came for me for, and I was just like, Okay, I hope that you guys never fck up anything in your life, ever.β*
Despite the drama, both stars have moved forward. Chelsea Green is now leading the βSecret Herviceβ faction and recently wrapped up a feud with Nikki Bella. Meanwhile, Vega has been repping the LWO and staying active in the World Tag Team Title picture alongside Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde.
Zelina Vega made a mistake β and she owned it. But sheβs also reminding fans that even the best in the business are still human.
